AnchorCert Diamond Certification Service - Now in London

A world-class diamond, coloured stone and pearl identification and certification service is now available in London. In addition to existing operations in Birmingham and New York, The Birmingham Assay Office has opened its third gemmological facility; the AnchorCert Gemmological Office in Hatton Garden.

The Birmingham Assay Office has acquired the London Precious Stone Laboratory and the services of the renowned gemmologist Eric Emms who will be the Director in charge of the new Gemmological Office, assisted by Ana Isabel Castro. The combined resources of the London Precious Stone Laboratory and the AnchorCert Diamond Certification Service will create a gemmological facility delivering fast, consistent, independent certification of diamonds, coloured gemstones and pearls in the heart of the London trade.

The need for expert independent gemmological services has grown significantly in recent years, driven by consumer demand for reports and the proliferation of treatments and substitutes for natural stones. Birmingham Assay Office Chief Executive Michael Allchin is aware that the UK jewellery trade needs a service it can rely upon: "Accurate and independent certification requires an increasingly expensive mix of expertise, specialised training, experience, knowledge, and sophisticated equipment" he says. "It is only by investing and expanding that we can offer the gem and jewellery industry the high quality, professional and efficient service that it is looking for. Our prime concern is to provide the services that our customers need."

Delivering top quality services will continue to be the focus of the new London Office which will operate exactly as before, with London Precious Stone Laboratory reports being produced under the supervision of Eric and Ana, in Hatton Garden. And now they have access to the wider resources and facilities available in Birmingham and New York, enabling them to offer the full AnchorCert portfolio of services, such as the reporting of synthetic and HPHT diamonds, mini diamond reports, and the laser inscription of diamonds.

"This is exciting news for the UK gem and jewellery industry", enthused Eric Emms, Director of the new Gemmological Office. "Our incorporated expertise and resources will undoubtedly yield significant benefits to our present and prospective clients. We aspire to provide the independent support the industry requires to face the future."
