The birmingham assay office ENJOYS GREAT SUCCESS AT the 100th Rotary International convention

rotatry event

The Birmingham Assay Office participated in the 100th Rotary International Convention, which took place at the NEC, Birmingham, from 20-24th June 2009.

The Birmingham Assay Office had a stand in the Victorian Britain Themed “House of Friendship”, which was the central meeting point for the Rotarians during the Convention.

The Birmingham Assay Office staff, appropriately attired in Victorian costume promoted, the merits of the UK hallmarking system and the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter in general whilst also promoting in particular a range of fine sterling silver items, all “Made and Hallmarked” in Birmingham.  This proved to be an outstanding success with many, many Rotarians from all over the world, taking home with them a piece of Birmingham Silver to remember their wonderful week in our fair City.

Over 20,000 Rotary Members from all over the world took part in the Convention.  Rotary International is a volunteer organisation of business and profession people who provide humanitarian services and help to build goodwill and peace in the world.  The worldwide membership exceeds 1.2million people.  The Rotary Clubs address critical issues at home and abroad, providing health care, medical supplies, clean water, food, job training, youth development and education to millions of people.
