rare itemsThe Birmingham Assay Office Stand at the Spring Fair will feature a rare opportunity to see pieces from its unique Silver Collection, which tells the remarkable story of the history of hallmarking in Birmingham.

The objects on display will include rare pieces produced at Matthew Boulton’s Soho manufactory, together with 19th century and early 20th century pieces. The Birmingham Assay Office has played a significant role in the history of Birmingham silver and the integrity and independence of all its current businesses is underpinned by this heritage.

Opportunities to see pieces from the Silver Collection on public display are rare, but recognised groups are welcome to visit us at The Birmingham Assay Office by prior arrangement. Charges do apply. The Curator, Dr Sally Baggott, is also available to give talks to groups and societies on a range of subjects. For more information please email: info@theassayoffice.co.uk or telephone: 0121 236 6951.
